November 13, 2017
On Tuesday 7th November the press launch for the UK Americana Awards 2018 was held at Gibson Studios in London, presented by The Secret Sisters and Baylen Leonard. I couldn’t be there as I was playing a show that night at the Bullingdon in Oxford, so was really excited to hear the news that my album Sweet Kind of Blue is shortlisted for UK Album of the Year, and that I am also shortlisted for UK Artist of the Year alongside the amazing Laura Marling and two of my musical mates, henceforth to be known as the Two Dannies… Danni Nicholls and Danny George Wilson (and his merry band, The Champions of the World).
The awards winners will be announced at the AMA-UK’s gala awards night, the third UK Americana Awards, which will be held on Thursday 1st February 2018 at the iconic Hackney Empire in London. I can’t wait! Not only because I enjoyed the first two awards nights in 2016 and 2017, but also because this one promises to be an extra special night, which will include a performance by the legendary Robert Plant, who will be accepting the UK Americana Lifetime Achievement award!
The move to Hackney Empire means that there is more space for fans and the public to come along to watch the show – I really can’t recommend it enough – the show is hosted by another of the UK’s music legends, Bob Harris, and if the first two years are anything to go by then there will be some truly outstanding live performances from awards nominees and guests.
